Laboratory Testing and Inspection Services

Our staff of construction inspectors is available to provide services in field inspection of piles, soils, cast-in-place concrete, precast concrete, structural steel, fireproofing, masonry, curtain walls, window systems, roofing and other elements of new construction. Our concrete inspectors are all licensed concrete technicians in the state of Massachusetts. Our Structural Steel staff has many years of experience and includes AWS Certified Welding Inspectors and ANST Level II , UT and MT. Our inspectors also provide inspection of repairs of deficient conditions in existing construction.

Our laboratory is staffed and equipped to provide physical testing of most construction materials, including concrete, aggregates, soils, masonry, bituminous materials, roofing materials, weatherproofing materials, steel, plaster, paint and timber. Our laboratory also provides a wide range of specialized and related analytical and testing services, both as an independent service and in support of our inspection and building enclosure weatherproofing services. Walk-in and mail-in laboratory services are also available, with convenient payment options of cash, checks, and credit cards (Visa, Master Card, American Express, and Discover).

The following examples are typical of some laboratory special testing assignments completed by our firm:

  • Load tests of structural elements, including precast concrete members, bar joists and exterior wall panel systems.

  • Analyses of causes of window glass etching.
    Tests of roofing membranes and roofing bitumens.

  • Chemical analyses of facade materials and coatings during restoration of old masonry and terra cotta structures.

  • Evaluation of carbon monoxide concentrations in warehouses and garages.

Laboratory Facilities
Our laboratory is located in a 10,000 sq. ft. facility in Canton, Massachusetts. The laboratory is certified by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts State Building Code Commission as Concrete Testing Laboratory Number 001. The laboratory is also examined every 2 1/2 years by the Cement and Concrete Reference Laboratory of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (formerly the National Bureau of Standards).

Our laboratory provides a wide range of routine and specialized services for the quality control of construction materials, utilizing test specification of ASTM, ANSI, Federal and other national standards setting organizations. Our staff also works with our clients to design special test apparatuses and procedures for specialized testing and measurement requirements.

Our laboratory has been recognized by the American Society for Testing and Materials and the American Concrete Institute for its membership and contributions to both organizations for over 60 years.
