The Thompson & Lichtner Laboratory is located in a 10,000 sq. ft. facility at 480 Neponset Street, Canton, MA, and is staffed and equipped to provide the physical testing of most construction materials, including concrete aggregates, soils, masonry, bituminous materials, roofing materials, weatherproofing materials, steel, plaster, paint and timber.

Our laboratory provides a wide range of specialized and related analytical and testing services, both as an independent service and in support of our inspection and building enclosure weatherproofing services, utilizing test specifications of ASTM, ANSI, Federal and other national standards setting organizations. Contract, walk-in, and mail-in laboratory services are available, with payment options of cash or checks.

Blower Door Tests
In accordance with ASTM E 1827 Standard Test Methods, T & L conducts this test (maximum tested space size 30′ x 34′ x 10′ or equivalent) to determine the rate of air leakage. Helps minimize energy consumption, improves building health, and assists in bringing your building up to meet the state building energy code and to achieve LEED certification.

Air Barrier Tests
T & L performs inspection services of air barriers for compliance with project specifications and conducts tests for air and water infiltration.

Adhesion Testing of Wall Membranes
This testing is performed in accordance with ASTM D 4541 on air barrier and sealant components to verify proper adhesion to the substrate.

Smoke Testing
T & L’s smoke test is a diagnostic test that is used to measure the air tightness of the below structure membrane. It also can determine paths and sources of air leakage in a building, without causing damage.

Contaminant Testing
This testing determines the presence and/or levels of mold, asbestos, and other contaminants.
